Six Packer Nomination
Our team would like to congratulate Horticultural Apprentice, Izzy Hawken, on her nomination for the Six Packer awards. Izzy has a keen interest in the horticultural industry, which began during the lockdown with houseplants. Over the years, her interest grew, fuelled by her desire to learn more. Izzy finds her work to be very peaceful, and she loves working outside. As an apprentice, Izzy is excited to learn more about the horticultural industry and one day Izzy hopes to use her knowledge for conservation.
Izzy was delighted to find out she was nominated for this award. She looks forward to the conference, seeing how other nurseries work, and the chance to work abroad.
This prestigious award helps to highlight newcomers to the horticultural industry. This event will allow nominees a chance to learn more about the industry and network with many horticultural specialists, hopefully providing opportunities for them in the future.
Being a ‘Six packer’ provides an exciting opportunity for Izzy to visit lots of different nurseries that grow a variety of plants. It will open her eyes to what can be achieved, and she will hopefully come back with ideas on how we can improve the container nursery on site.
The International Plant Production Society Conference takes place across three days between 8th to 10th October. This year, it is being held at Park Inn, Peterborough and all three days are packed with lots of activities, including tours, presentations, and panels. The winner of the Six Pack award will be announced on Thursday evening.
We wish Izzy the very best of luck and hope she has the best time at this year’s conference.
