Supporting students in the horticulture industry

The BALI Chalk Fund was established in 1975 with a bequest from the widow of Geoffrey Chalk, a co-founder of the British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI), to support the advancement of education by offering scholarships and the facilities for people to study in the UK landscape industry.

Our contribution to the fund stems from our understanding of the importance of supporting education and training in horticulture for future career development in a flourishing industry.

For many years, grants have been awarded for travel scholarships and funding annual college top student prizes. More recently, a successful pilot enrichment programme has funded colleges (BALI members) to ensure graduates have the relevant skills, training and certifications to support their future employment and to raise awareness of BALI.
